Happy Fourthy Day!!

There are a few holidays that are enhanced by children.  Their childlike wonder makes the celebrations more jolly.  Unfortunately the fourth of July isn't one of them.  We still had to observe an early bedtime since our little one seems to be completely incapable of falling asleep anywhere but her comfy room.  But we still had a fun day eating special fourth of July food, going to the park to participate in an outdoor concert and other festivities.  Overall it was a great fourth of July!

put me down Daddy!

she ALWAYS steals her shoes off her feet.

On our way home from the park we stopped and got some ice cream.  This is Kylea trying out some chocolate.

The Children's Museum

I recently read something that inspired me.  It said, if you find yourself having trouble with procrastination, go easy on yourself.  Demand something less than perfection and you will find yourself sailing through your to-do list.  At first I scoffed thinking, "I procrastinate because of time!  Not because I'm a perfectionist!"  As I pondered the statement I realized it was true.  Why have I not blogged forever (prior to this blogging binge I've gone on this week) because I felt like they needed to be cleverly written and after a day of watching two kids (I babysit my two year old niece) I feel anything but inspired, just tired.  So, I have given myself the liberty of posting blogs that contain mostly photos or events told in less than my most creative way.

Kevin's older sister and her family were in town last week.  So we got to spend time with them and do a few fun things too.  We all went to the Children's Museum in downtown Salt Lake.  If you have children I HIGHLY recommend it.  It is packed with tons of interactive exhibits the kids had a blast.....and I can't speak for Kendra and Mike but Kevin and I had a good time "helping" the kids with a few of the exhibits too.  Unfortunately I didn't get very many photos of the cousins because the second we set foot in the Museum they all dispersed like flies from a jar.

We were surprised at how many Ky-Ky sized exhibits there were.  This one the balls dropped from the top setting off lights and sounds and other fun chain reactions.

They called this the "kid's eye view" it was a construction zone.

Kylea was so excited that she could get this little car to move, I could barely get her out of it when it was time to let other kids have a turn.

Kaydence gave the rock wall a try

Too little for this exhibit still.

This exhibit was the perfect cruising height for Kylea she spent a good half hour here checking out all the bins.

Daddy entertained us with a one man bird show.
By entertain I mean..... he stalked all the cousins while making loud bird screeches and flapping the wings of his costume.  Kacie (10) thought it was funny but all the smaller kids are hiding behind the curtain.  If you look close you can see their little feet poking out.

Kylea wasn't so sure about all the loud sounds it made.

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

There's one big positive to Salt Lake city there are a lot of family centered activities and businesses.  We thought we would try out the local aquarium to see how Kylea liked it.
Silly Mommy and daddy thought baby would stay in her stroller with all those tanks of fish to see  She lasted exactly two seconds into the first exhibit before she was bursting to get out.

we got to pet a stingray!

we saw turtles and sharks in this tank

Yay fish!
This was by far Kylea's favorite exhibit.  It was filled with all sorts of enormous and scary looking fish from the Amazon.  She squealed with glee and flapped her arms while we watched....and threw a pretty loud fit when we moved on to the next exhibit.

Of course we had to shop for a souvenir for our little fish.

We love Daddy!

We LOVE the Aquarium! Just ask Kylea.
